We are in NYC for the weekend (Ken) and the rest of the month (me). So the updates may be fewer and farther between for a little bit. Unless Ken shoots some photos for me.
Tonight, Mandy called to give us the latest update from her Doctor's appointment. I was happy she chose to call me instead of going through Deasree. I told her that I was fine if she wanted to use my cell number to update us. Normally people go through the counselor. Normally the adoptive parents are freaked out for the birth mom to know their name...while we are being careful about realistic boundaries, we don't feel the need to be ultra secretive. She is really not asking for much from us other than for us to love the baby.
The update: Both Mandy and the baby are healthy. Mandy is still tired, but is less anemic. She really likes the new doctor...Dr. Hamre...and feels good about things. In fact, Dr. Hamre is giving a tour of the new hospital where our little one will come into the world. She invited Ken to come up for that. So he will represent us at that tour. Both Ken and I are excited that Mandy wants him to come even though I am not going to be around. That is a wonderful testament to how well Mandy is doing with her decision. Unfortunately I will miss the next 2 Dr. appointments with my teaching obligations. So, she will be calling to update me as she knows what is going on. I will be back for the appointment on June 20, Mandy will then be at 37 weeks, and she thinks it will not be much longer after that for her body to start the process. If she hasn't started by July 4 she will be induced (which she will ask to have done on the 1st).
7-8 weeks and counting!
