News

Here is what we now know...

Mandy changed doctors because she is having some difficulties she hasn't had in past pregnancies and didn't feel that the first guy was really listening or helping her. The new nurse, who she met with on Monday said she was anemic, which the other doc didn't catch, so it is no wonder she has been totally exhausted. And she has some numbness in her face...Deasree said that was likely Bell's Palsy...I will be looking that up, but remember that it does happen in a fair amount of pregnancies. Also her ankles are really swollen and she has had to cut back on work. That must be hard for her.

We found out today that when she went to the new Doctor this afternoon (we couldn't go as I had a crit at the same time) she set a new date for an ultrasound, April 30 at 10. So we will still get to see the baby, and she has the DVD from the past ultrasounds and pictures from those as well, so we will get those. I feel very fortunate that Mandy is such a caring and giving birth mother. I mean it is enough that she has decided to allow us to raise the baby, but that she understands how important it will be for us to have those records for our little girl as she grows up is really wonderful. So, send anti-swelling and anti-numbness vibes out to Clarksville, TN for Mandy. I know she will appreciate it!

That is it for now...tune in this weekend for more home improvement updates...ooooooo.

The pressure.........

For those of you who have been asking or wondering...
We just spent a little while looking at names and you will be happy to know that we are down to 10 possible first names and 11 possible middle names (down from 38 total possibilities, though the first names could be demoted). We have come up with 7 interesting combinations so far and will keep working on it.  We are realizing that neither of us have really had the power of naming anything living since both of our dogs have come to us with names attached.  I mean, I personally named about 30 hamsters in my life, and Ken gave his sister Stephanie a LOT of names, none of which are appropriate for our child.  Maybe Freckles...one beloved hamster that met his demise in the sump pump...but Etwas (meaning "something" in German, who accidentally froze to death)?  I for one believe that my name had an impact on the outcome of my personality and I am grateful for it.  My students actually laughed when I told them my birth name...Elizabeth Ann Kreimeyer... no offense mom and dad...they only know me as Libby Rowe.  There is a BIG difference there I guess.  And Ken was Kenny for most of his childhood and tried Kenneth professionally for a short while, but really, Ken is Ken.  So, since we probably won't know until we see her, you also probably won't know until we do.  And no, we don't want your opinions, thanks for the offer though.  And yes, you will probably find the name weird at first, but you will learn to love it as it will suit her.

Oh, and don't get excited about the rug...it might not make the cut.  Bright colors are rumored to make angry babies...she might have to wait for the polka dots.  We will see.

Finally the update you have all been waiting for.

Well, this week brought some minor disappointment for us.  I received a message from Deasree that Mandy had cancelled the ultrasound we were supposed to have tomorrow because she no longer liked her Doctor and was changing to someone else.  That part is fine with us, we want her to have a good relationship with her Doc, as that will make our presence at the birth easier.  We were just disappointed not to get to see our little girl this week.  It is weird to be doing all of this planning and work when I don't think I really believe there is a baby in there.  Somehow the thought of seeing that crazy black and white profile of a wiggling baby keeps me going.  I feel lucky that we will even get this possibility since most pregnancies don't have this many viewings.  Hopefully the next Doctor will give Mandy what she needs in terms of ultrasounds and visits to give her peace of mind during the last stages of the pregnancy.

I guess this is just part of the process...
I should connect with Deasree tomorrow to find out what is up.  More then.

More Progress upstairs

I am trying to figure out this cool slide site that my pal Joy uses when she has a lot of images.  This isn't exactly pretty, and it turns out I should have titled the fils what I wanted to tell you, so you get this instead.
  • Priming
  • More priming...don't tell Amy she has white dust on her butt!!  What a sucker coming over two weeks in a row...maybe she will come help me paint too...heh, heh, heh.
  • "Whatcha doin' mom?" or "Don't drink that Ruby, that is not for dogs" "Go down stairs, Ruby" "No Ru, don't lick that" or Good practice I suppose.
  • Amy is still working, oops, I am shooting photos again.
  • The mess I made in the bedroom upstairs instead of finding homes for everything that was in my way.  I guess its time will come.
  • It is only April and it is already getting hot upstairs. Sigh...look at my long luxurious hair!
  • Wallpapering is going quickly!
  • More quickly than we thought it would at least....thanks Amy for saving our marriage by helping me do this!
  • A job well done.  Well... nearly.
  • This is Rosemary helping me finish up with the closet.
  • This one is out of order...see the amazing drywall work that Ken did on our weird closet that once was a sound studio.  The inside of the closet still has the evidence of the odd window.  Ken rocks.

Think they might have troubles with the new kid?

Well...this is what I came home to the other night.  I was getting my bag together and the mail and looked up to see two heads in the windows of the dining room.  They are a little reflecty and I wiggled the camera I was laughing so hard.  I think these dogs may not be excited in June when the new kid comes.

For Kat and other interested parties

Ok...so the last weeks of school have had me busy....
Here is some of what I promised a week ago or so.

Kat- This is the rug we found a while ago for the nursery.
So, these colors for the most part.  This photo is pretty close, but may not be quite as bright as the images...I know, they are bright.

We will be having a polka party soon for friends who want to help us paint polka dots while listening to polka music and eating...I don't know what...porka something??? Sorry Mark, Kelly and Andee, I will find something less meaty for my veggie friends.

These are a sample of the sweet shirts we found at target and bought even though we have no child yet and they are 6 months and 12 months.  These are great examples of clothes that are not pink, for those of you who think girl children must wear pink.
